Fried Mozzarella
4 Oz | Mozzarella "String" Cheese |
1.75 Oz | Pork Rinds |
½ tsp | Oregano |
½ tsp | Basil |
¼ tsp | Garlic Salt |
1 large | Egg |
¼ tsp | Flour |
Most string cheese is sold in 1 ounce logs. You'll need 4. Cut string cheese into 8 pieces of cheese. (Each stick is cut into 2 pieces.) Put the cheese in a small plastic bag and add in the ¼ teaspoon of flour and toss to coat. Grind up or smash pork rinds until very fine. Add spices to pork rind crumbs.
Beat egg in a shallow bowl. Dip cheese in the egg and then roll in the pork rind crumbs. Put coated cheese onto a plate and place in freezer for half an hour.
Heat frying oil up to 350°F.
Repeat the process of dipping cheese in the egg and then roll in the pork rind crumbs. You need a double coating to keep the cheese in when it melts, so don't skip the second coat.
Fry in the oil for about 2 minutes or until cheese starts to escape. Drain and serve immediately.
